Here is his message to New Leaders:

“When given the chance to send a fresh, vibrant and intelligent voice to the Texas House we can’t let that moment pass. That’s why I have enthusiastically endorsed Mary González and donated to her campaign. The passion and intellect that she has demonstrated in her advocacy and in her academic career is just a glimpse of what she’ll put on display in the Legislature. In making the Texas House better she will also make El Paso and all of Texas better.

With a win in the May 29th Democratic primary, Mary will be one step closer to becoming a legislator who will make a significant difference in our state for years to come. Please join me in making this happen by supporting Mary González.”

Mary González is running for a critical open state house seat in El Paso County. As the oldest of 11 children raised on a South Texas farm, Mary understands first hand the importance of perseverance and hard work. Not one to shy away from a challenge, she helped found a non-profit group to develop young leaders in colonias along the Texas/Mexico border and recently was recognized as one of the country’s top 25 most influential young Latinos. Mary also is a recognized leader in the LGBT community and a staunch defender of the civil rights of all Texans. Mary worked at the National Hispanic Institute and Texas House of Representatives, and as an Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs and a professor at Southwestern University. Polling and fundraising numbers show Mary as the primary frontrunner, but she is not letting up and is campaigning at full speed into the May primary.
